Chair 2009

Chair was an attempt to examine and track a continuous cycle from real to representation and back again. The diminishing credibility of what is 'real' was central to this project. The process eliminates the source material (a chair), and later eliminates the representation of that material (a photo-montage) as an attempt is made to build something 'real' based on the information contained in the photo-montage. Using three chairs in its construction, the reconstituted chair becomes the source-material for one final photograph, the document of a process. This project continuously inspires my current work and still provides me with a challenging puzzle as to its exact definition.
