Surface Mass 2013. Exhibited as part of Actuations: Solo exhibition June 2013 at Roman Road Project Space, London.

Surface Mass is a physical representation of a fictitious space which was previously created by means of photo-montage. Similar to 5 Photographs, the visual content of the source photographs is replaced by monotone physicality. The use of concrete and perspex was a bid to create and exaggerate this physicality, making something lasting and real, brutal and present. Employing these ubiquitous building materials was also an attempt to explore the extremely interdependent relationship that I feel exists between photography and architecture, juxtaposing the limitations of photography with the aspirations of architecture.
